About Our Island Parish

Greetings and Welcome!

Christ is risen! Within the hearts and minds of the faithful -- this is where God abides, if we love one another.

Some of us of the Christian faith who are living on the beautiful Island of Maui, or who are visiting the island, have come together over the past years to share and proclaim our faith. We are called to be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind:

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

— Ephesians 4:4-6

We are thankful for fellowship with our brothers and sisters on Maui; we are thankful to stand with those who have stood — through millennia — worshiping through the Vespers, Matins, Typika and Divine Liturgy services. We are thankful for the opportunity to partake in Holy Communion on Maui when we have a visiting priest.

Our Mission is alive and well! Thanks to the original faithful guidance of Fr. Theodore, President of the Commission on Orthodox Missions and Evangelism (COME) and Presvytera Stacey, from St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Portland, our parish elected its first streering committee back in 2012. Back at that time we had been introduced to the Byzantine musical tradition, and we have been practicing and learning the Byzantine musical tradition ever since.

We also thank the dedication and faithful service of both Fr. John (from 2012 through 2013) and Fr. Alexander (from 2013 through the present) of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, from our neighboring Island of Oahu. Matins and Divine Liturgy celebration have been served once a month on Maui. Services are being held on the fourth Saturday of each month at St. Theresa Church in Kihei (25 W. Lipoa Street, Kihei, Maui, Hawaii 96753).

Our Mission serves all Christians (under the umbrella of the Metropolis of San Franscisco and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America) on the island. We welcome newcomers and visitors of any denomination and background. And we hope you can join us for Services and stay for the fellowship hour afterwards.
